The photos that I make are an attempt to capture the tranquility of
geography and the serenity and ease of the people of our world.
Juxtaposed to this, I often catch our world and the people in it in
turmoil, struggling to adjust to the circumstances of their everyday
existence. I have traveled and photographed people and places
extensively around the world often capturing images that are more
photojournalistic in nature than the "NORMAL" travel
photography.
As an out-growth of my travel, and because of my formal education as a
sociologist, I have created an on-going body of work entitled
Somebody's Sister... These photos offer testimony to
the plight of women world over.
I have also amassed an extensive body of work on the island of
Vieques, Puerto Rico covering 12 years and including images of the
island's struggle to stop the military training exercises and bombing
on the island.
The majority of my work is in color as that is how I see our world. I
have, however, worked with black and white and infrared films.
I have shown individually and in group shows in the Hudson Valley
area of New York State and in Vieques. Additionally, my work has been
published in numerous books and newspapers. I also offer workshops on
developing the photographic eye.
